Testimonials

Kind words from former clients:

Brad - NY

“I had the pleasure of having Zack visit my 80-acre property in Pulaski, NY this spring. I have owned the property for over a decade and had been trying to improve the hunting each year. I reached a point where I was certain that I needed a professional to show me all of the things I didn’t know. Zack spent the time to talk to me on the phone a few times prior to his scheduled visit. It was immediately apparent that Zack was very knowledgeable and I was excited about his visit. Zack spent the day with me walking the entire property pointing out various aspects, many of which I had not previously considered. He is also a very genuine person who you quickly feel like you have known for years. Following Zack’s visit, he quickly sent me a very professional, detailed management plan. His plan made perfect sense and opened my eyes to how I could transform my property into a consistent hunting location. Everything was well explained and very achievable in a short amount of time. I’ve already implemented many of the changes and have never been more excited for the hunting season to arrive to see the results. My trail cameras are already showing numerous bucks traveling through the corridors Zack has designed. I continue to keep in touch with Zack and look forward to sending him photos of a harvest or two this fall. Thanks, Zack!!”

“I have been looking for a professional management plan for a few years. I read some articles that Zack wrote and listened to him on an NDA podcast. Decided to give him a call and after a brief conversation decided to book him. The best thing I ever did. Zach takes his habitat personally and explains the reasoning for his plans. This is not just a business to Zach, it’s a passion. He knows his stuff. Unlike the other biologists I spoke with, Zach is personable and tells you your failures without making you feel like an idiot. My plan is extensive and will take some time and hard work but it will pay off big time. I’m already having grants written to help me with the project thanks to Zach. Zack is also available for follow-up questions which are so important to the process. I highly recommend an in-person consultation with Zack!”

“As long-term and successful deer managers, we were reluctant to consider a professional consultant. However, when we were unable to achieve our expected results, we turned to Zack. It’s a bonus that Zack is professional and easy to work with; however, we must humbly admit that he has a vast knowledge base that we are confident will be worth his reasonable fee structure. Zack has proven timely and reliable and we look forward to working with him in the years to come.”

“I knew from the first contact Zack Vucurevich was the habit manager for my property. I first contacted Zack by email, he promptly responded and we scheduled a telephone consultation. By the second time we spoke (the consultation) Zack was well prepared. He had already researched aerial photos and maps of my property and properties adjacent to mine. I hadn’t yet paid him a penny!

Needless to say, I was very impressed with his preparation. We agreed to a time for Zack to inspect my property and I began to feel lucky to have someone like Zack helping me reach my goals.

Zack arrived at my home when he said would and was well prepared. We spent the morning covering half my property and some adjoining property that I have permission to hunt. Again,

if not for Zack’s preparedness and passion, there would have been no walking on the adjoining property. That wasn’t part of the bargain!

Zack not only explained to me what I needed to do, but why I needed to do it. For instance, he explained that I wouldn’t want a stand in a certain location because of the wind currents.

After spending half of the day covering half of the property, we came in for lunch. Having lunch with Zack was like having lunch with an old friend. Zack seems like someone that has never met a stranger.

We spent the second half of the day covering the remaining property. Then it was time for Zack to leave. He assured me he would have a habitat plan for me within a few days. Being true to his word, the plan arrived via email (hard copy later) within a few days.

The plan was much more thorough than I expected. It was very detailed and easy to understand. However, don’t believe for a minute you can implement all of it in a year. His plan covers years of development and habitat management practice. Zack provided me with information on books (not his) I could purchase to educate myself on food plots and plants. I feel as if I will earn a biology degree if I take advantage of all the information Zack offered.

Additionally, Zack provided information regarding what to plant and when to plant. He provided information on where I could purchase the seed locally. He went as far as to provide the name, telephone number, and address of a local vendor for the seed.

Zack contacted my local county extension office regarding funding for some projects that fit into the habitat plan. Think about that, he is going to help me get paid to provide quality deer habitat.

As is clear from his plan, Zack is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work, and it shows.

The investment I made with Zack not only excites me, but it increased the value of my property.

Most importantly to me, was Zack’s continued willingness to communicate with me. I have continued to contact Zack with questions “after the sale” and he always promptly responds. In fact, Zack regularly requests pictures of my progress. As I said before, Zack is passionate about his work.

Without a doubt, if I had another hunting parcel, Zack Vucurevich would be preparing a habitat plan for it.”

“If you only read one sentence of this testimonial, I am hoping it is this one: I did meticulous homework when deciding who to finally bring out to my property; I chose correctly as Zack really wants you to succeed and is extremely passionate about his craft.

Where Zack differs from the rest of the Habitat Managers is that Zack is actually a Wildlife Biologist. I understand that there are many hobbyists out there that offer these services - as a hobby and side job. This is Zacks career and he is living out his dream. When he came to my property, he wasn't just trying to find treestand locations, but he was trying to understand the entire puzzle. From pointing out so many invasive species that needed to be controlled, to describing the amazingness of Stump Sprouts. Everyone wants to hunt mature deer. Zack wants you to hunt multiple mature deer. When he told me he idolized Craig Harper, I knew I had my guy.

What Zack brought to my attention was the various resources available through the county and state that can assist in some of the projects, that I now have on my plate. Who knew I could actually get paid to have invasives removed? Not only did he explain how it all worked, he actually had multiple calls with these agencies before the Habitat Plan arrived in my mailbox. The resource that I am really taking full advantage is his retainer availability. It's invaluable to have this Swiss Army Knife a Facetime or Text Message away to answer my confusing questions and to also point me in the right direction on varying herbicide mixtures.

Oh, and I am still reading his Habitat Plan and finding new details each time. Thanks so much Zack! I am so glad I paid for passion.”

“As a lifelong outdoorsman, the prospect of owning a sizeable parcel of land where our family and friends would gather and share time, seemed like a decades long dream.  Well, dreams do sometimes come true and I can’t begin to tell you how important it was to have engaged Zack Vucurevich to support and partner in one of the biggest decisions we have ever made.

Early in the process of identifying a property, it became clear to me that finding the right parcel was going to require time and an understanding of land types that I didn’t have.  Finding a knowledgeable advocate that can work with the right real estate group, was critical.   Zack worked with our Whitetail Property agent for over a year to ensure the parcel would fulfill every element we were looking for.  His understanding of habitat, timber and wildlife needs was invaluable.

After purchasing 365 acres in south central Kentucky, Zack built a habitat management plan that included converting about 35 acres of hayfields into food plots and cover fields as well as timber management and the addition of soft and hard mast tree planting.  The wildlife management plan was aimed at improving the whitetail deer and wild turkey populations to improve hunting opportunities on the parcel.   Zack’s initial deer survey revealed a resident herd in the mid-teens, buck to doe ratio of about 1 to 3, no bucks over 2.5 and only two fawns.  Working Zack’s habitat improvement plan and herd management recommendations over the past 4 years, the resident herd has more than tripled.  The buck to doe ratio improving to nearly 1:1, more than half of the bucks over 2.5 years old and several over 3.5 years old with antlers in the 140-150 inch scoring range.   Fawn recreuitment rates have also increased dramatically.  Turkey populations have also exploded providing excellent hunting opportunity as well.

With Zack’s guidance and unwavering commitment to helping us meet our goals, the property today is literally a dream come true, exceeding expectations in every way.   He is incredibly knowledgeable, the consummate professional and committed to his clients.  I would not hesitate recommending Zack Vucurevich to anyone in need of similar services.  He is simply the very best!”

“Just a quick note of appreciation for the help Zack Vucurevich gave me with our hunting property. I asked Zack to come help me develop a plan to improve the habitat of our 460 acres in MN. Zack came really well prepared, having already studied maps and speaking with local conservation resources. I really appreciated his ability to quickly assess the strengths and weaknesses of the property for supporting healthier deer herds, turkey, grouse, etc. We spent two days exploring and talking thru ideas and then he helped me get a start on creating doe beds and doing some edge feathering so that I had a good understanding of things and places I could work on to improve the property. I really feel like Zack has a great deal of knowledge about wildlife and habitat! He put a plan together for me that is totally doable and should really improve early nutrition for fawns and nursing does, create better hunting experiences with more predictable deer movement and also just an overall improvement in habitat for all the wildlife on the property. I would highly recommend Zack if you have property and want to improve the habitat and your hunting success!”

“I highly recommend Whetstone Habitat Solutions for your habitat consulting needs! Our property has been in our family for many years. We have a long standing tradition of deer hunting with a good deal of success. We have attempted many habitat improvements over the years but our efforts felt random at best. I asked Zack to help us tie our habitat improvements together in a long range plan for the property. He delivered! The plan he drafted is very detailed and well thought out. Zack visited our property and walked nearly every inch of it. He worked hard to help us set goals and plan for the future. We are very happy with our plan and we now know where our focus should be as we make improvements. I especially like how Zack helped us with the creation of bedding areas for deer. We struggled to access our stands without spooking deer. Now we have a plan to create good access and bedding to keep that from happening. We have already started to implement many of Zack's recommendations. If you want to make your property better for deer and deer hunting you need to call Zack!
